About Jess

Jessica was born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Married at 23 to the love of her life, she is now a seasoned military wife and mother of two. After moving to several different states in support of her husband's career, Jessica found herself giving birth to her children far away from family, friends, and the traditional support system most of us have. In those times, she found herself under prepared and under informed. Through difficulty breastfeeding her first, she has successfully nursed her second, who has severe food allergies - driving her to help nursing moms through Certified Lactation support, and helping them adjust their diets, regulate oversupply, and help moms through the hurdles nursing can sometimes present. It is these instances that drive her to pursue her passion for empowering women through all that she does.

Now that she is finally back "home" with her two children and husband, she decided to create the rest of her life, Down to Earth Childbirth. Jessica came to this name naturally, as she prides herself in being extremely down to earth, grounded, and calming to clients. Jessica's number one goal in every birth is to instill confidence in the mothers she supports - so that they may meet each decision they are presented with - with sound decisions and secure choices. Jessica believes every woman experiencing childbirth for the first or for the fifth time, should be empowered to experience her birth in whatever way she desires. Single mothers are always encouraged to reach out to her, as she is extremely centered around making the experience all about mom. Jessica has intimate experience with high-risk pregnancies and bed rest, supporting moms through induction, helping with anxieties in your current pregnancy after a previous loss, and previous trauma support. All different types of moms need doulas - and the "natural birth" mom isn't the only one who can benefit from this great resource. She believes every type of birth deserves the support of an experienced doula.

Jessica is also the Co-Director of the Massachusetts chapter of Your Whole Baby. Jessica strongly believes in the human rights of both boys AND girls at birth, and is firmly against genital alteration (circumcision). Working with Jessica does require being open to information and education pertaining to the choices you make for your future baby. She's a gentle informer, and has lots of information to share!

Jessica went through several deeply informative courses with Childbirth International to certify for Birth & Postpartum Doula, Lactation, and Childbirth Education - all certifications she is proud to possess. She believes all women and their supports should be prepared, informed, and lastly - excited! about their upcoming life changes.

In Jessica's free time, she loves to practice yoga, cook healthy meals, tend to her farm, enjoy the outdoors, read, and spend time with her children and supportive husband.
